The only lady among the six Filipino X Photographers. The Domestic Helper-turned-photographer in Hong Kong that made news in the Internet and is now going to New York to pursue her photojournalism study is recently named as the latest Fujifilm Ambassador in the Philippines. Also known as X Photographer, XCB or Xyza Cruz Bacani joins top caliber Filipino photographers who use mirrorless camera in their professional work.

In the event hosted by Century Mall in Makati, Fujifilm Philippines invited photographers, bloggers, media, as well as DLSR users where Bacani shared her inspirations and secrets about photography.

Glenn Michael Gatan of Fujifilm PH also discussed the difference between DSLR and Mirrorless camera by identifying out technical pointers that will help would-be photographers or current shooters which camera should they buy or choose in their photography.

Multi-awarded and veteran journalist of the documentary i-Witness of GMA-7 Howei Severino was also present to interview Bacani. His i-Witness documentary about Bacani that coincide with the protest rally in Hong Kong last year was also shown during the event.

Bacani has a word to share about (street) photography — “Be Kind“. Be kind to all people you interact with because you don’t know what that person is going through.
She also shared that her employer is happily letting her go as DH to pursue her dreams. Her employer once said to her that she will just stay in their lives for a time and now that Bacani has found photography as her real passion, her employer is supportive and letting her go.
Bacani is in the Philippines until today. She is with the street photographers for a whole day of photo walk in the streets of Manila. She is bound for New York for her Magnum scholarship, but before that she has an exhibit in Hong Kong this May.
Bacani joins other X Photographers like Niko Villegas, Rommel Bundalian, Lito Sy, Jan Gonzales, Randall Cipriano and Tim Yap.
