With the telco competition in the Philippines, each company must innovate and improve their postpaid (contracted) subscription. And with the top brands like Samsung and Apple both offered in Smart Communications and Globe Telecom; one has to innovate to retain its paying customer.
Last year, Globe introduced Globe iPhone Forever Plans. We thought it was a genius attack. Under this plan, iPhone fans and loyalists need will get a free iPhone each year. They need to return the old unit and they get a new one. Globe then retains the subscriber.
This year, with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5, the same program was launched and they called it Globe Galaxy Forever Plan.
Similar to iPhone Forever Plan, subscriber get a new Galaxy S5 and after a year they can either return the “old” Galaxy and get a new one or, just keep the old one, pay for the “cash out” and enjoy a new Galaxy smartphone.
Globe though did not clarify if this plan will apply also for the other Galaxy series. Currently, it is available on Samsung Galaxy S5.
The Globe Galaxy Forever Plan
Current of new subscribers has three choices: Plan 1599 with a cash-out of P16,800; Plan 1999 with a cash-out of P14,800, or / All Galaxy Forever plans are bundled with the GoSurf consumable data plan, free calls and texts, and 6-month free Spotify for access to over 30 million songs on mobile.
New postpaid plans applies
The unlimited era for Globe subscribers is gone after the telco has implemented its FUP policy. Smart has not yet implemented its capped data, but we heard they will start their FUP by the end of September.
With Plan 1599, subscribers get 1.5GB of GoSurf consumable data plan monthly, 6-month FREE Spotify Premium subscription for music streaming on mobile, unlimited calls and texts to one Globe/TM number of your choice, free calls and texts to all networks, and additional monthly consumable for other services.
At Plan 1999, subscribers get P3GB of GoSurf data plan, free 6-month subscription to Spotify Premium, choice of unlimited calls and texts to Globe/TM or unlimited texts to all networks, and additional monthly consumable for other services.
For Plan 2499, subscribers get 5GB of GoSurf data plan, free 6-month subscription to Spotify Premium, unlimited calls to Globe mobile/landline, unlimited texts to all networks, and additional monthly consumable for other services.
