As a loyal GrabCar rider, I always talk to the driver who would pick me up and drop me off to my destination. I interview them without them knowing it. I ask about their past employments, about their family, about their salaries, how they take care of their cars, and how they got accredited as GrabCar driver.
Last week, I posted about the Grab Car Independence Day promo, to help the riding public know about the “discount” and educate my readers that that there is a better and safe way to move around Metro Manila via the recently created transport category by the LTFRB, the TVNS (Transport Vehicle Network System).
Recently, there is a case about a missing-in-action driver who drives a car under Uber. The Uber operator seek the help of TopGear Philippines to inform the public that his car, a Toyota Vios with Plate Number ASA 3682 has been missing and the driver can’t be located.
Going back to GrabCar, the company has posted this on their Facebook page just a few hours ago, the process of accrediting Grab operator and its drivers.
In the Infographic, there are five procedures that should be followed by a company or car owner who wants to be a Grab Car operator. They require all supporting documents, from the standard Driver’s License, to NBI Clearance, working phone number, resume, and you must be referred by an existing Grab operator.
A private background checking is done after complying to the initial requirements. Grab Car requires sketch of the parking of the car, the address of the Grab operator. They visit and double check the declared address of the applying Grab operator.
Before deploying the driver of the Grab operator, they train the drivers. Most of the drivers that serviced me are courteous, kind, well-mannered, all dressed up (Nahiya pa nga ako minsan, mas mukha pa akong hampas-lupa kesa kay Kuya Driver, haha!). Drivers has to follow strictly the Code of Conduct from Grab Car. They have a long list of To-Do and Not To Do list.
Grab operators can monitor their drivers via GPS location. Passengers in return can submit feedback from the app, they can rate the drivers. Grab Car requires at least four (4) stars in order to continue as a Grab Car driver.

With Grab Car, I feel safe. This is a revolutionary transformation in the transport system of the country. The driver can track who is his passenger, the passenger can track and see his driver and the plate number of the car he is going to ride. Plus, from the app, the passenger can see the actual location of the driver. If something bad happens, like the driver cancels his booking for no reason at all, the passenger can report this to Grab management.
