Unboxing

The Huawei T1 7 Plus is an improved version of the T1 7, the Plus there represents the upgrade: 2G RAM and the 16G storage.

Inside the box are the usual accessories which are pretty much standard in a tablet or smartphone packaging. You will find a Huawei wall charger, micro-USB cable, an earphone and some reading materials to include a user manual.

Initial impressions

The Huawei T1 7 Plus is not a new device. Judging from how it looks and fee,  this one takes the design of a 2014-ish tablet less the labels in the buttons you will find on the right side of the device.

While the front is colored white with some chrome on the edge. They also put an on-screen button instead of using the space at the bottom.

It will ship with only one color available — a champagne white.

The power button is on the right side of the tablet and on top of it is the volume rocker. At the bottom part is the card slot where you will insert a micro-SD card for an additional 64G storage and a micro-SIM.

The Huawei T1 7 Plus is not the most powerful tablet in the market, that justify the price of only P6,490. It has decent specs though when compared to the current competition.  At this price range, The T1 7 Plus is the only device with 2G of RAM and a huge battery of 4,100mAH.

Display

The 7-inch tablet has 1024 x 600 WSVGA resolution, which Huawei claims to last for 12 hours of video playback. That is because the display is not a full HD display. Looking at the screen of the T1 7 Plus, you will find a clear display but the glass glares as much.

Build and design

Well built and if you happen to hold the Samsung Tab 4 7 inch, you get the same feel. The back uses a metal material with some plastic on the bottom and top part.

Camera

The back camera of the Huawei T1 7 Plus has only 5MP with Autofocs and LED flash. When we had a quick test, we were impressed on how the camera delivered beautiful photos. Here are few samples we took using the automatic settings of the camera.

Initial verdict

The pricing will entice you to get one immediately. And if you pre-order from Lazada beginning tomorrow, April 20, you also get some freebies like Guache bag and a free leather case and earphones. But you also should consider, if this one matters to you, that this tablet ship out of the box with Android 4.4 Kitkit, a two-year-old OS already. The Speadtrum SC7731G quad-core processor is also not new, you will find this in some Torque devices. Lastly, the design, like we mentioned earlier is 2014-ish.
