Intel Compute Stick starts to roll out in PH

Announced in May 2015 in the Philippines, Intel’s Compute Stick are now spotted in CyberZone in SM Megamall.

So, what is Compute Stick really?

We go back to what Intel PH chief has to say about this super portable device that turns your TV with HDMI into a Personal Computer.

If you want a basic PC, get the Intel Compute Stick; but if you want more performance, the NUC is the right one for you. — Calum Chisholm, Intel Philippines Country Manager.

Yesterday, we witnessed a live demonstration of this PC and it shows potential for a certain market segment. A consumer that has large TV at home but does not want to upgrade yet to a Smart TV. That television can be converted into a “Smart TV” by simply plugging Compute Stick to the HDMI port.

Another segment of the market that may benefit from Compute Stick are students. They can bring this pocket PC with them and just stick it with any monitor that has HDMI port. They can work with basic productivity tools like Microsoft Office and web browsing.

I went to test it myself, I loaded a browser, opened few tabs including my website, Youtube, and Facebook. This is aside from the other apps that are currently at the background.

The experience was smooth, pages loaded fast & switching between apps are seamless.

A pocketable PC

If you remember back in times that the LTE was being introduced, the Compute Stick looks exactly like that. A supersized USB stick that is, but it is a PC.
