Modular models of a smartphone have started its introduction to the market. The LG G5 was the first to be introduced commercially and today, Lenovo unveiled two models under the Motorola brand Moto Z and Moto Z Force.
Both models come with modular parts called Moto Mods.
Take note that both smartphones work perfectly on its stand-alone design but the modular parts may come handy if you need some sort of upgrades without having to buy a new phone.
Meet Moto Z
Moto X series is gone. You now see the Z series and Lenovo is now on the forefront of launching the Motorola smartphones. Moto Z is claimed to be the slimmest smartphone at only 5.2 mm thin.
A 5.5-QHD AMOLED display is what you will get with Moto Z. There is a metallic body which matches the rounded corners on the side. The fingerprint scanner is seen at the bottom of the display while the Moto logo is on top of it.
The front-facing camera has 5-Megapixel while the rear gets a 13-Megapixel armed with dual-LED flash with auto focus feature and promises a no blurry photo with the built-in OIS.
Because they insisted a really thin body, the rear camera is also observed to be protruding.
Also, there is a 6-pin connection interface is located at the bottom to give way to Moto Mod accessories.
Lastly, they ditched the 3.5-mm audio port in this model.

Moto Mods
Lenovo beefed up the latest Motorola devices by releasing modular devices that should accompany Moto Z and Moto Z Force.
That is why both devices have 16-pin connection at the bottom to allow the other accessories to work and augment the already powerful device.
Here are the modular accessories you can attach to the Moto Z devices.
JBL SoundBoost Mod
I bet this Mod is kind of expensive when it comes out. It is an external speakers with an additional of 1,100mAH battery.
Incipio Off-Gird Power Pack
Aside from enabling the wireless charging feature of the Moto Z, you also get an additional 2200mAh battery when you attach this Mod.
Moto Insta-Share Projector
Turn your Moto Z into a super portable projector with this Mod. It has also 1,100mAH battery included.
Style Mod
Not much of a Mod but it looks like a replaceable back cover of the Nokia 3210, but yeah it is also a modular accessory.
The Moto Z and Moto Z Force are expected to roll out in the market in September 2016. No prices has been disclosed as of this posting.
