Design & Build Quality
The OPPO A57 2022 model deviates from the usual design language of OPPO. It almost resembles the iPhone 13! They ditched the round corners and the curves.
The back is finished with a glass kind of material. The power button also doubles as the fingerprint scanner for added security.
The volume control is on the left as the SIM card tray with dual-nano SIM compatibility.
At the bottom are the USB Type-C, a noise-canceling mic, the speaker grill, and the 3.5mm audio jack.
For media consumption and gamers, you’ll be glad to know that this budget smartphone comes with dual-stereo speakers.
The dual 13MP f/2.2 Main, 2MP f/2.4 Depth rear camera module sits comfortably on the upper left, and it complements the overall design of the phone.
Display
The front is equipped with a 6.56-inch IPS, 1612 x 720 and the bezel surrounding it isn’t so thin but good enough for the size. The 8MP front camera is up at the center and blends perfectly with the overall design.
The screen has also a pre-installed screen protector.
Overall the display of the OPPO A57 (2022) is bright and clear, with no noted viewing angle issues.
Performance
The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 coupled with 4GB RAM. The internal storage of our review unit is only 64GB but it can be expanded up to 1TB via the microSD card slot.
Included in this configuration are Network Dual-SIM, 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 5.0.
With simple applications for managing social media updates, phone calls, and SMS duties, the OPPO A57 2022 performs excellently as a daily driver. It has good overall functionality, and the 4 GB of RAM makes sure everything functions properly.
Bluetooth transfers and its dual-band WiFi connectivity work effortlessly as well.
For users that create content, I highly recommend bumping up the storage to at least 128GB additional or 256GB if your budget permits. It will give you more room for video and photos for your content.
Camera
There’s a decent camera that has 13MP f/2.2 Main & 2MP f/2.4 Depth on the back. And on the front, there’s an 8MP f/2.0 for selfie and vlogging purposes.
These cameras took decent photos.
But if you shoot using the automatic settings, you could be disappointed a little bit. Try adjusting the exposure level and you’ll be good.
Software & OS
Running the show is OS Android 12, with OPPO’s ColorOS 12.1 on top of it. Surprisingly, the experience is smooth and no lags on the usual apps that I regularly use.
The only issue I have with OPPO’s software is the pre-installed apps. Some might like it, but others, like me, are sometimes annoyed by it.
The unwanted pre-installed apps by the way can be easily uninstalled.
OPPO’s own App Market comes pre-installed as well which I think is redundant given that the phone has Google play.
Conclusion
If your budget is tight but still want to enjoy a smartphone that can do basic social media postings like Tiktok videos, a little vlogging, and media consumption, the OPPO A57 2022 which is the subject of this review is recommended.
