The Reno Series is the successor to the R17 Pro. But it is a lot better.  It has been like that. The new model of OPPO Smartphones is always a better version of the previous ones.

We acknowledge that OPPO has now leveled up their branding. It is going to the premium series while keeping the affordable price tags on their midrange devices. The premium series started with the introduction of OPPO Find X in the Philippines.

The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is one hell of a flagship device!

Unboxing OPPO Reno 10x Zoom

Software & UI

This comes with the latest OS – Android 9.0 with Colors OS 6.0 on top of it.  So far I have no issues with how it looks and its performance. Very fluid and easy to navigate.

Here’s how the UI looks like.

OPPO Color OS 6

I also like the two options of the home screen – standard and drawer mode. I like the drawer mode because all the apps are organized, sorted alphabetically.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Display

This smartphone has a massive device. Like the viewing experience is the best, so far. Thanks to the 6.4-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080) AMOLED display, 402ppi.

Media consumption is now the best-ever in this device. First, because of the super huge screen, but the best part of the experience is the real full screen! No notch, ladies and gents.

Audio

In relation to the best viewing experience is the audio of the Reno 10x Zoom. OPPO has integrated a stereo sound with Dolby Audio. It is so loud. Like you don’t need the assistance of external speakers like a Bluetooth speaker.

Also, there is no 3.5mm audio jack. But who cares actually, haha! Hey, I say that because I don’t really listen to audio using a headset. Having said that, the loudspeaker of this device is enough.

Camera

The most interesting part of the Reno 10x Zoom is the camera department. There are a total of 4 cameras on this phone. At the rear, there’s the 48 MP, f/1.7, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm, Laser/PDAF, OIS, a 13 MP, f/3.0, 130mm telephoto, 5x optical zoom, Laser/PDAF, OIS, and an 8 MP, f/2.2, 16mm ultrawide.

The rear camera implementation is also one of the best. There is no camera bump. It is installed inside the glass back cover.

Here are the sample images to clearly illustrate how good these rear camera setup on the Reno 10x Zoom.

8MP with 16mm ultra-wide lens.

The 16mm 8MP ultra-wide camera is so good. For us bloggers who cover press events, group shots become so easy.

Now here’s the 10x zoom from the image above.

The zoom lens is usable, but not good for printing. Best for internet / social media use only. Here are some shots.

Take note that when you launch the zoom lens, you need to have steady hands otherwise, you’ll end up having blurry images.

Close up shots results to a really sharp subject with a little blur in the background.

Selfie shots are super bright.

The rear camera can record 4k, 1080p and 720p videos. The front camera can record up to 1080p video only.

Battery & Overall Performance

There is a 4,065mAH battery capacity on this device. It is so huge that it contributes a big chunk to the total weight of the phone. It is heavy. That’s the price you have to pay for a big screen and a high-capacity battery.

But with VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 is always there to rescue you in case you get a “lowbatt” alert. The 25-watt fast charger will fill up the entire 4,065mAH battery within 1.5hours.

The 4.065mAH battery can sustain you for more than 10 hours of usage with mobile data turned on.

I still miss the Super VOOC charging on the R17 Pro. See the sample video below:

The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is powered by Snapdragon 855, which is paired with a massive 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM (Storage). With this configuration, the smartphone can be your secondary workhorse, next to your laptop.

If your job is all about social media, short video clip production, blogging, photo editing — these things are quite easy for the Reno 10X Zoom.

There are no noted hiccups with multi-tasking.

Conclusion

If not for the price tag of P45,990, the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom without a doubt, one the best in the market today.

The camera setup delivers sharp and saturated images. The front-facing motorized camera gives justice to the full-screen experience! Media consumption is at its best on this phone.
