Together with the Note 3, the bigger version Note 10.1 will also hit the stores beginning November. The bigger Note will serve a niche market. The Note 10.1 (2012) version was launched in September last year. In the launch they featured artists and designers.
This year, the new version comes in a more premium-looking tablet, you can call it the mother of Note 3 because it has all the features you see in the recently launched flagship smartphone, but there are slight differences in the specs. But the looks, including the faux leather back, the S-Pen, and other features are present. Perfect for people who like to doodle and design stuff.
For some reason, Samsung PH will only release the 16G WiFi model. So if you see a differently-configured Note 10.1 2014 Edition, it must be from the gray market.
If you hold it, you will immediately feel the heaviness of the tablet, but it has improved already as the old note weighs 600grams and this one is 535 grams, a very slight improvement of the weight.
On the looks department, the 2014 edition have become more premium-looking, classy and looks like a really expensive gadget to carry. The curves and bezel were pretty much inspired from the Note 3, and it uses the standard micro-USB port now, that means you can share charger with your Note 3, or any other chargers in your drawer.
We managed to take a quick benchmark and Antutu gave a score of 32,527, one notch lower than the Note 3 benchmark. The specs of the Note 10.1 2014 edition will justify the score for you.
If you want to take photos of the tablet, the rear camera has an 8MP shooter with BSI sensor, the front “selfie” camera has 1.9MP which lets you take 1080P videos. Note also that it has a larger battery capacity of 8220mAh Li-Ion battery which is a bigger than the previous model too.
We were told that we’ll get the review units by next week so that we can play around with it and get a full experience. What I am concerned about is the weight, the size is acceptable to me, it is quite perfect and can replace your laptop as your working machine. At that weight you would be happy pairing it with a Bluetooth keyboard dock, and just detach it if you want to draw or doodle using the S-Pen.
Over-all the Note 10.1 2014 Edition is an all-new revamped model with a more premium look but will end up with specific market only.

No 3G version?! WTF!
I won’t feel this disappointed if internet connection in the Philippines via wifi was more common and abundant across the country, which it isn’t. So not releasing the 3G+wifi version is a big disappointment for me. Does Samsung think we Pinoys can’t afford the model with 3G/LTE?
