Samsung Philippines just released here in the country, their newest addition to the Gear 360 family and is the 2017 version of the company’s 360° camera, also known as the Gear 360 (2017).

The design is a little appealing device, with two big lenses on each side of it. These lenses have an image sensor that can shoot up to 8.4-megapixel CMOS with default output pixel of up to 15-megapixel. It can also record 360° videos with a resolution of 4096 x 2048 at 24 fps. To hold and touch is really good, as it weighs only 130 grams.

As we open the box, here are the things that we should know so that we must aware of how to set-up or putting some connectors on the Gear 360 (2017). We first have, of course, the device; and afterward, the user manual, the USB Type-C cable, a wrist strap and a pouch.

The base or bottom of the device has a standard mount. It’s good for shooting time-lapse videos in high quality plus taking landscape shots. It is flat, so we may able to stand the Gear 360 (2017) in a table or places that have the regular surface of steadiness. We have also a hook, to insert an aforementioned wrist strap or a lanyard.

We have a removable microSD slot here, that supports up to 256GB. Below the said slot is the USB Type-C support for charging. Additionally, we have many controls here, the back button or the power key, as well as the menu button, which also has a Bluetooth indicator and two small microphone arrays.

Lastly, there’s a tiny LCD reader on the center part and the capture button. Like the predecessor, it comes with IP53 certification, which means, it is a dust-proof device. The battery is a 1,160 mAh non-removable one and allows to record up to 180 minutes of 1080p videos at 30 frames per second or 120 minutes of 4K videos.

We believe that using this device is very cool, especially when taking videos and still images. It supports live broadcast, and we can share it thru Facebook and other supported sites using a phone, or on a PC. Connectivity options include: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4Ghz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 and USB 2.0.
Unfortunately, the Gear 360 (2017) is only supported on the following Samsung Android smartphones and iOS devices:
