Smart just rolled out Smart LTE Prepaid for mobile phones, this will complete the LTE package offered by the MVP-led telco in the country. LTE was first made available with Bro and Pospaid subscribers. Smart Prepaid SIM cards are made available, as of this posting there are around 100,000 pieces out in Smart Stores and in even in “tiange” or your suki in Greenhills and in Makati Square selling gray market smartphones.
Smart LTE Prepaid SIM card price is P40 for the micro-SIM with P35 worth of All-network texts and nano-SIM for P100 with P50 load which can be used buy LTE 50 one day unlimited LTE.
Smart LTE Prepaid is for the Smart Prepaid subscribers who has LTE handsets. Otherwise, subscribers may avail of the Smart-certified LTE handsets that includes ZTE T82, Sony Xperia V and Z, Samsung Galaxy S4, Nokia Lumia 920, Huawei Ascend D1 LTE and iPhone 5.
Here are some important notes that you should know.
- You can retain your old Smart Prepaid number! Yes, just go to Smart Centers and request to upgrade your SIM, they will replace your old SIM card and make it LTE enabled, retaining your old prepaid number. Cool, right?
- LTE services are not automatic, you have to subscribe to Smart LTE Bundles (1day, 7days and 30days LTE) in order to enjoy LTE in your LTE-enabled smartphones. If you do not subscribe to LTE bundles, your smartphones defaults back to 3G/HSPA.
- BRO LTE SIM cards can be used only with LTE pocket wifi and tabelts. It can’t be used to call and text unlike the Prepaid SIM.
- You must be in an Smart LTE area to enjoy LTE, on areas where no LTE signal is available you will revert back to 3G/HSPA signal.
- Upon expiration of your LTE subscribed bundle, your data is reverted back to 3G/HSPA.
Micro-SIM fit both regular cut and micro-cut LTE phones, while nano-SIM currently fits only with iPhone5.
LTE Prepaid Bundles:
- LTE 50 – 1 day unlimited LTE, Send LTE 50 to 2200
- LTE 299 – 7 days unlimited LTE, Send LTE 299 to 2200
- LTE 995 – 30 days unlimited LTE, Send LTE 995 to 2200

Hi Joseph, you are partially correct. I tried that too.. but you cant get the total features of the Prepaid LTE SIM, they have all the features of the prepaid SIM card vs the BRO LTE prepaid.. 🙂

I've been using a BRO LTE sim since they released it months ago in my phone, and its worked just fine, text and calls. 😉
I hope they're not looking to shut it down, that would be very inconvenient for me!
