The festival aims to extend Mozilla’s advocacy of promoting openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web to people of all ages, fields and backgrounds.

At the Manila Maker Festival Manila 2014, expect to see robotics, web literacy, web development, mobile app development, software development and digital media learning, among others. Project exhibitors and festival participants may join the event for free.

For the event, Globe Labs will be inviting all winners from its previous hackathons to display and demonstrate their apps and products at the Globe Labs booth.

“We want to give our developer community, particularly those who participated in our hackathons, a chance to showcase their projects and ideas and maybe find potential investors, marketers, and other like-minded individuals who may help get their projects off the ground,” said Anne Michelle Santos, Manager for Developer Relations of Globe Labs.

Mozilla PH Community Manager Faye Tandong said: “Maker Festival Manila 2014 aims to be the biggest gathering of makers in the Philippines. In this event, we will show how everyone can relate to technology. We want to provide a collaborative venue for enthusiasts to show what they can make and learn from other makers.”

Designed after the open and collaborative format of the Mozilla Festival in London, the Manila leg will serve as the Philippine finale of the Mozilla Maker Party season for 2014 where Mozillians teach about the Web and help make a generation of webmakers.

Mozilla, a non-profit organization best known for the Firefox browser engages on other software projects and engagement efforts to advance its mission to make Web users “know more, do more and do better”. Locally, the Mozilla Philippines Community is composed of volunteers who organize events and projects in line with Mozilla’s mission.

Interested exhibitors to the Festival may apply at the event’s official website, http://makerfestival.com. Festival participants may also register through the said website.
