Globe Starlink lets your regular phone text and use light data straight from a satellite when there’s no cell tower in sight, and it starts at ₱99 for 30 days.
Picture this. You’re on a bangka somewhere between Coron and El Nido. The signal bars drop to zero, your Lola is waiting for a “nakarating na kami” text, and the next island is an hour away. Then your status bar flips to “G Starlink” and the message goes through.
That’s the whole pitch. No dish, no ₱28,000 kit, no extra gadget. Globe uses Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellites as a “cell tower in space,” and your phone connects to it the way it would connect to a roaming network abroad. The bill stays on your existing Globe or TM account.
But the ₱99 price tag has caused plenty of confusion. It is not Starlink home internet. It will not stream Netflix. It will not fix weak signal inside your condo in Makati. Here’s what you get, what you don’t, and who doesn’t have to pay at all.

Globe Starlink 99 vs Globe Starlink 299: Which Prepaid Promo to Get
Globe Starlink 99 gives you 2 GB of satellite data and unlimited satellite texts for 30 days. That’s enough for a month of Messenger, Viber, map checks, and the occasional GCash transfer from the bundok. Get this if you have one trip coming up.
Globe Starlink 299 gives you 10 GB and unli texts for 90 days. Per month, that works out to roughly ₱100 for 3.3 GB, so you get more data for almost the same monthly cost. Get this if you live, work, or travel often in dead zones: field engineers, seafarers on domestic routes, LGU staff, mountaineers, or families in far-flung barangays.
The TM Starlink promo follows the same structure, so TM users don’t need to switch to Globe Prepaid to get it.
When Globe launched the service in July, these promos came with 100 and 500 texts. The live page now lists unli satellite texts on both, which makes the ₱99 tier a far better emergency backup than it was at launch.
Globe Starlink Postpaid Free: Who Doesn’t Have to Pay
Globe Postpaid subscribers on GPlan with Device or SIM-Only Plans 1499 and up get the service free for up to 12 months, with 10 GB of satellite data and unli satellite texts. At launch, this freebie lasted three months, so it has since quadrupled.
Globe Platinum subscribers get it built into their plan.
If you’re on Plan 1499 or higher, check GlobeOne before paying for anything. You may already have it.
What Globe Starlink Can Do
Think of it as a lifeline, not a broadband connection. Globe built it for:
- Messaging: Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, and regular SMS to all networks
- App-based calls: voice and video calls through messaging apps
- Navigation: Google Maps and other map apps when you’re lost on a trail
- Payments and government services: GCash, eGov PH, and GlobeOne
- Emergencies: sending updates and reaching help during typhoons, earthquakes, or a breakdown at sea
Globe has also worked with app makers and phone brands to optimize apps like Messenger and Google Maps for satellite use. Those are the apps it’s meant for.
What Globe Starlink Can’t Do
This is the part most promo posts skip:
- No streaming, torrents, heavy downloads, or online games. Globe says so directly in its FAQ.
- No regular voice calls. Native calls aren’t supported yet. Use app-based calls instead.
- No free zero-rated apps. GlobeOne, GCash, and Free Facebook aren’t free over satellite. They consume your Starlink data.
- No indoor use. You need a clear view of the sky.
Globe Starlink speed is modest. Globe’s field tests showed speeds of around 2 Mbps to 4 Mbps. That’s fine for chat and maps, and slow for everything else.
Globe Starlink Coverage: Where It Works and Where It Doesn’t
The service works across the Philippines in places regular mobile signal doesn’t reach: mountains, open water, remote islands, and other off-grid areas. Coverage can vary with satellite position and your surroundings.
It does not work well around tall buildings, under dense tree cover, or indoors. It also only kicks in when there’s no regular Globe signal. Once your normal signal returns, your phone switches back on its own.
So if your problem is a weak signal inside your house in the city, this won’t fix it. It’s built for the 3% to 4% of Filipinos living outside Globe’s tower coverage, and for anyone who travels there.
Globe Starlink vs Starlink Home Internet
This is the biggest point of confusion on Facebook right now.
| Globe Starlink | Starlink Home Internet | |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | Your existing phone | Dish kit (₱28,000+) |
| Starting price | ₱99 for 30 days | Monthly plans up to ₱3,800 |
| Speed | About 2 to 4 Mbps | Broadband speeds |
| Use | Texts, chat, maps, payments | Streaming, work, gaming |
| Billing | Your Globe or TM account | Starlink directly |
Same satellites, different product. Globe’s version is satellite to mobile. Starlink Home Internet is a full broadband connection with its own dish. If you need to stream or work remotely from a farm in Quezon, you need the dish.
Globe Starlink Compatible Phones (Including iPhone)
You need a compatible 4G, LTE, or 5G phone running Android, iOS, or HarmonyOS, plus an active Globe or TM SIM. No extra hardware.
The big update since launch is Globe Starlink iPhone support. At launch, iOS wasn’t supported. The current Globe page lists iOS alongside Android and HarmonyOS on both prepaid promos.
Support still depends on the brand, model, and software version. Globe has named Samsung, Xiaomi, and OPPO among the device partners for broad compatibility. Update your phone’s software before you travel.

How to Register Globe Starlink
- Buy the promo. Open GlobeOne and go to Buy Promo or Load. The promos are also on GCash.
- Turn on Data Roaming. Some phones use this setting to reach the satellites. There are no extra roaming fees within the Philippines.
- Set your Globe SIM as default. On dual-SIM phones, make it the default for data and texts.
- Go outside. When the regular signal drops, your phone shows “G Starlink” beside the signal bars and you get a confirmation text.
- Track usage. Text STARLINK STATUS to 8080 for free, or check Track Usage in GlobeOne.
Register before you leave signal range. You can’t buy a promo from a dead zone.
TechPatrol Verdict
This is the cheapest insurance policy in Philippine telco right now. For ₱99, you get a month of satellite texts and enough data to message family, check a map, and send money from places no tower reaches.
Keep expectations in check. It’s slow, it needs open sky, and it won’t replace your regular plan or a Starlink dish. But in a country of 7,641 islands where typhoons knock out towers every year, that’s not the point.
Get Globe Starlink 99 before any trip to the mountains, islands, or open sea. Get Globe Starlink 299 if dead zones are part of your daily life. Postpaid 1499+ and Platinum users: check GlobeOne first. You may already have it free.
