The OPPO A39 has a 5.2-inch with HD resolution with 282ppi and has a 2.5D curved glass on top.
It has a midrange engine, tandem of 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor
and Mali-T860 GPU.
Another nice combo is the 3G + 32G RAM and ROM, plus a dedicated microSD slot for a maximum of 128G additional storage.
The shooters include a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera w/ LED flash and 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
A little bit old Android 5.1 Lollipop runs the show with OPPO’s Color OS 3.0 on top.
There is also a 2900mAh non-removable battery.
Design & Build
We’ve reviewed several OPPO phones already including the most popular OPPO F1s. The A39 is not exempted in terms of build and quality. You also get the same quality as the previous devices. Smooth finish, all-metal, premium and nice to hold in the hands.
Unboxing OPPO A39
A carefully packed device is what you’ll find inside the box of the OPPO A39. And as the usual practice of the Chinese brand, the A39 comes with a FREEBIE – a transparent protective casing.
It has the usual reading materials like the user guide and the all-white accessories inside.
Display and UI
Even with HD resolution only, at 1280 x 720 pixels and 282ppi, the A39 has a pretty decent clear display. But under the bright sunlight, you have to kind of cover the device to clearly see the display.
The UI is taken cared of by Color OS 3.0 which makes the device an exciting one to use. Never mind that it has an older Android OS under the hood. Customizable themes and interactive magazine covers are there to add some entertainment value.
The OPPO A39 has these shooters on-board: 13MP autofocus rear camera w/ LED flash and 5MP front-facing camera with Beauty 4.0.
The rear camera takes beautiful and crisp photos as well as 1080P videos without lags, and focus hunting issues.
Here are the samples of the rear camera:
The front-camera, while it has 5MP only, it has decent results as well. Here are the samples.
These photos are unedited and merely resized to fit in this blog’s layout.
Overall the camera of the A39 performs well. Not as great as the OPPO F1s, but the quality is overall okay.
Equipped with 2,900mAH non-removable battery, this device can last for a day. Let’s just say that on a full charge coming from the home and going the office, you still get 30% of your battery on your way home by 5 PM.
This is a midrange phone. Even the presence of a 3G RAM, it might go slower sometimes. Management is key. That’s why a pre-installed optimization app is there. With one-touch, you can close all running apps in the background to clear some memory.
OPPO A39 Video Review
The OPPO A39 is clear alternate to the selfie expert king, the OPPO F1s. If budget is your concern, this device is for you. Current price is P9,900 (USD196). At this price, you’ll get a well-built smartphone, premium looks, and an outstanding performance. This phone is for the casual users.
