A 2TB external storage can either be too much of a backup of too small if you have are into video editing or photography business. Seagate has eliminated the wires and introduced backup with 2TB capacity with the Wireless Plus external storage. Seagate Wireless Plus 2TB.
So here is our review after the break.

Seagate WP 2TB is currently available with an SRP of 10,990. Let’s see if it is worth it investing on a wireless back up.
Build and construction
Seagate WP 2TB is housed on a plastic casing. It is sealed. You can’t see any screw where a user can open it. Meaning, if you get in trouble, say for example, you battery dies or the disk stop working, you have no choice to bring it to the service center.

There is a power button on the side. When pressed it turns on the backup device as well as the WiFi connectivity. Also, there are two LED lights — the first one is for the WiFi connectivity and the other is the power indicator.
Connectivity
On paper, it says you can connect up to five (5) devices. It can be a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop (Windows or Mac), or a Smart TV.
By default, Seagate WP 2TB has a default access point without password, which you can connect and configure after you are connected.

Seagate WP 2TB does not end its service as wireless backup alone, you can connect it to your access point (Wi-Fi) and your devices connected to it becomes connected to the Internet as well.

UI and User experience
Upon connecting to the Seagate WP 2TB, you can access it in two ways. In your tablets or smartphones, you can download Seagate Media App, it will automatically search for the device and you connect from there. Or, you can type the default IP address 172.25.0.1

From there, the UI of Seagate WP 2TB will be displayed. Photos, Videos are arranged accordingly.
Seagate WP 2TB as media center
I connected two of my devices simultaneously to the Seagate WP 2TB, and I played the same video on to my Macbook Air and my Lenovo A7000.

Playback is sweet! No lags had been observed. No unnecessary garbled audio, or anything that will display weakness of the media center.
File transfer
The USB 3.0 is provided for both file transfer and charging of the backup device. While there is an option to upload files wirelessly, I do not recommend it. Wireless transfer will you time specially if you are transferring bulk of files. The USB 3.0 is your ultimate way of doing the job.

Overall performance and conclusion
In terms of file transfer speed, I am happy with. Very fast with USB 3.0 in place. The video playback which is the main course of this backup device is also awesome. I have tried connecting three devices at the same time and still the playback is sweet and smooth. Seagate WP 2TB becomes warm a little bit, but it does not affect its performance.
I’d probably give it a 4/5 grade in this review. I am reserving the one point about the battery. Once it dies, your true problem starts. It will become your usual external storage, less the media center feature.
