The AFP is not only composed of the armed men in uniform, they also have back back end force and civilian unit that handles administrative task to assist the whole organization.
The AFP CMOS or the Civil-Military Operation School is one of those in the back end that specialized trainings for the armed forces.
Recently, the Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil-Military Operations School (AFP-CMOS) conducted the first-ever Social Media Management Training at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

The training was made possible through the leadership of BGen. Rolando G. Jungco, Commanding General of the Civil Relations Service-AFP and was mounted by the AFP-CMOS headed by its Commandant Maj. Jo-Ar Herrera in partnership with the the DWDD 1134 kHz Radio.

Among those who were invited to share their knowledge and expertise were Ms. Janettte Toral of DigitalFilipino.com, Mr. Melvin Calimag of Newsbytes Philippines, Mr. Jing Garcia of InterAksyon.com – TV5’s online news portal, Mr. Pocholo Gonzales of CreatiVoices and Voice of the Youth Radio, Mr. Raffy Pedrajita, Mr. Ian Bacungan, and Mr. Ron Villagonzalo of Philippine Bloggers Network.
The crash course were attended by 31 participants from the AFP, Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Department of Transportation and Communicaton (DOTC), and Philippine Veterans Association Office (PVAO). It provided hands-on training, as well as best-practices and methodologies, on integrating social media in websites.

Maj. Jo-Ar Herrera, AFP-CMOS Commandant, said: “The 5-day and 15-day practical application training was aimed at developing the skills of our Information Officers from AFP units on social media management and to help them realize the importance of social media in our organization.”

Since the first edition was a success the AFP-CMO School is bringing the same training to the other units of the AFP. Yesterday, Marlon Magtira was in front of the Philippine Navy to train their Social Media Managers too.
