Sharp announces another Android One device in the Japanese Empire, dubbed the X1. It is the third handset under the line from the company (fourth over-all), after 507SH, S1 and the Kyocera S2. A long lasting four-day battery life is the main highlight feature of the phone, thanks to its huge 3,900 mAh battery capacity. In addition, upcoming software updates will come directly from Google.
As expected to be a mid-range one, it uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset, that clocks at 1.4Ghz and pairs with 32GB of expandable storage and a 3GB RAM. Further, the connector upgrades from micro-USB to a Type-C, also capable for fast charging and transferring files.
The Sharp X1 runs on the latest Android v7.1.1 “Nougat” and comes with monthly security updates for two years, and we look forward that this will be first updated to the next major Android version. Adding the protection, there’s an IPX 5, IPX 8 and IP 6X for water and dust resistant.
For the display, a 5.3-inch screen with IGZO (Indium gallium zinc oxide) LCD display, capable of ultra low power consumption which extends the battery life of the phone. Under this part is an oblong home button that acts as a fingerprint sensor also.
The handset supports FeliCa, a smart card system for banking and transit money, also used in Android Pay. Camera-wise, the rear lens is a 16.4-megapixel with PDAF and LED flash. An 8-megapixel is located on the front camera and carries a wide-angle lens.
Surprisingly, on the communication side, it is compatible with international LTE bands and can be used outside Japan. On the negative side, it takes a pinch of salt if this phone will make a way to be available worldwide.
