Do you back up regularly? Or you just let your photos accumulate in your hard drives? If you started firing your camera shutter like a trigger happy shooter in the firing range because he just got his .38Super race gun, then probably after six (6) months your 250G hard drive is at least 80% full by now. Is your Pictures directory looks like this now?
So what’s your back up plan?
Just keep it there and do nothing? Or delete what you feel is not significant anymore? Or just wait until one day your laptop turn into the ever dreaded blue screen and all your files are wiped out? And then, bang! Just cry like a baby stolen with his favorite lollipop?
BACK UP NOW! Back up now before you regret. Here are few practical suggestions for your back up solutions.
- Back up quarterly and burn your pictures in a DVD, anyway compact discs are very very cheap now. There’s even P8.00 DVD at CD-R King; this is the cheapest solution. But you need an external DVD writer for this, or
- Invest in another external hard drive. This is more convenient specially if you are a netbook user.
- Alternatively, I heard this from one photographer conducting a lecture: for every photo shoot that you make, choose your best photo and print and keep it as your file. This way if something happens to your soft copies, you have a hard copy reference. 😉
Remember, its better to be safe than be sorry later.
