Whether we like it or not, we have to embrace the new normal brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. While we are being advised to stay at home, we can be equally productive especially on settling our bills — Meralco, PLDT Home Fibr, and many more.
Here’s how I paid my bills using PayMaya. You can do this as well, effortlessly.
Paying Meralco using PayMaya
I created a video tutorial on how you can settle your Meralco bills using your PayMaya and it wasn’t as complicated as you might think. It was easy.
What do you need?
A PayMaya account. Don’t have one yet? Download the app now and create an account. Here’s the link for more details.
It is important that you complete your PayMaya registration because you can do a lot more with an “upgraded” account link sending money to PayMaya accounts, Smart Padala agents, and even doing bank transfers via Instapay.
Now, back to paying your bills. There are two (2) ways of paying a Meralco bill using your PayMaya account. The first one is using your PayMaya app directly. To do this, simply follow these easy steps:
From the PayMaya home screen app select “Bills” and search for “Meralco”.
The next screen will require you to input Meralco’s Reference Number. There are two ways you can do this — enter the reference manually or scan the barcode from your Meralco Bill. The easiest way is to scan the barcode by clicking the barcode icon on the screen.
Just key in the amount of bill you are paying and hit continue. You will have to review the details you input then confirm your transaction.
After paying, simply wait for the confirmation SMS that PayMaya will send you. Keep that SMS because that contains the reference number of your payment.
IMPORTANT. If this is your first time paying bills via PayMaya, you can earn P50 cashback for simply settling at least P1,000 worth of bills on your app. Just make sure to pay this in full and on time.
The second way to pay your Meralco bill via PayMaya is through the Meralco site. On your PayMaya app, check the lower right of the screen and click “My Cards”, where you will see your virtual Visa card details.
Screenshot it (but make sure to delete after your transaction) and then proceed to Meralco website.
On your browser go to https://online.meralco.com.ph/ and log in. If you don’t have an account yet, you can easily create one by providing the necessary information. You can also link it to your Facebook account to save time.
Just enroll the service you are trying to pay. Once on the checkout page, input your PayMaya virtual card details and confirm your payment.

Covid-19 surely changed our lives and the new normal is here to stay. Thanks to the innovation developed by PayMaya, we don’t have to risk getting contact of the virus when we do household management tasks like paying bills.
