Motorola Moto E5 trio debuts with Android 8.0 Oreo and splash-resistant
Motorola officially introduced the Moto E5 line-up, consisting of the Moto E5 Plus, the main Moto E5, and the cheapest Moto E5 Play. All of them are running the stock Android 8.0 “Oreo” and has some water-repellant to protect from an accidental spill.
The most premium on the triplets, the Moto E5 Plus has a 6-inch HD+ display with 1440 x 720 resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset. This is also the same chipset found on its smaller brothers – the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Play. This chipset is coupled with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM. Powering the smartphone is a huge 5,000 mAh battery which supports rapid charging feature.
To the back of the smartphone is a single-camera setup, with a 12-megapixel sensor, a f/2.0 aperture, and a LED flash. The front of the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel or 8-megapixel (U.S. model) camera with a f/2.0 aperture.
The standard Moto E5 has a smaller 5.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with 1440 x 720 resolution. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The device also gets rid of the single-camera setup and replaces it with a 13-megapixel with a f/2.0 aperture. The front has 5-megapixel camera with a f/2.2 aperture. The battery capacity packs a non-removable 4,000 mAh.
Lastly, the Moto E5 Play that packs less powerful specs and the most affordable. The display is a 5.2-inch 720p resolution. Same as the Moto E5, it has 16GB of expandable storage and 2GB RAM. Camera-wise, the phone has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front camera with an LED flash. It has a 2,800 mAh removable battery and supports fast charging too.
