Motorola launches Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play with 18:9 display

Aside from the Moto E5 series, Motorola also unveiled the Moto G6 family that shares some features. The mid-range Moto G6 Plus features a 5.9-inch 18:9 IPS display and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 chipset. The latter is a 14 nm FinFet chip with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 508 GPU. 4GB or 6GB of RAM (depending on storage) is inside along with either 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage.

On the back of the smartphone is a dual camera setup (12-megapixel + 5-megapixel) with phase detection auto-focus. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera to handle selfies. Keeping the lights on is a 3,200 mAh non-removable battery, and the stock Android 8.0 “Oreo”. It will be priced at €299 for the base model, which is equivalent to ~P19,000 and is available in Nimbus, Deep Indigo, and Gold colors.

The Moto G6 carries a smaller 5.7-inch IPS panel with 1080p resolution in a 18:9 display. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 450 mobile platform, which carries an 8-core CPU and the Adreno 506 for graphics. There’s an either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of native storage available. The cameras on the phone match what you’ll find on the Moto G6 Plus with one exception; it has f/1.8 aperture on the primary 12-megapixel sensor. Android 8.0 “Oreo” is installed inside the phone. The device is available in Silver, Deep Indigo, Blush and Black hues with a pricing starts at €249, equivalent to ~P15,900.

The Moto G6 Play was announced as the entry-level smartphone. It also has a 5.7-inch screen but using 720p display. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 430 or Snapdragon 427 chipset for the US model, which comes with an octa-core CPU. 2GB or 3GB of RAM is inside along with either 16GB or 32GB of native storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The 13-megapixel camera on back has an aperture of f/2.0, and like the other handsets in the series, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, except in the North American variant that comes with a 5-megapixel sensor instead. A humongous 4,000 mAh non-removable battery is also inside, and a 15W fast charger is included in the retail package.

Both these three devices are available starting today in Brazil and next week in Mexico. It will be launched in the European continent, Asia-Pacific region and in the Latin American countries in the coming months. Availability in North America is yet to be announced.
