The trend is to go paperless, to go green and ultimately preserve paper as much as possible. However, Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc.’s (CMPI) new president & CEO, Lim Kok Hin, is highly optimistic about the future of Canon’s printers. With today’s technology, we are given an array of information posted on the web, thus pushing a higher need for hard copies. Likewise, the more content we create, the more we will eventually need it on paper.
According to CMPI, the company has delivered to their customers all their printing needs as their business continue to grow over 15 percent for the past year. It is also noted that the camera business has gone up to 26 percent. They continue to lead with their respective market share scenario, with the Inkjet Multi Function Printer experiencing a good 30 percent, the Inkjet Single Function Printers with 35 percent, and the Laster Single Function Printers with 35.18 percent market share.
As for their cameras, the Canon EOS is still leading as they are the most used camera and they have 59 percent market share. Canon IXUS and Canon PowerShot has 29 percent market share.
Furthermore, the new CEO of CMPI shared that it is not enough to store photos online. Hard copies of photos give people a different, better feeling.
CMPI printed millions of ballots in the 2013 elections
All is going good for Canon’s printing business, as the National Printing Office (NPO) has chosen Canon to print over 104 million volume of printed ballots for the national & barangay elections held last May & October 2013. There were four systems with eight engines in the total colorstream installed. Canon has also broke the record for printing over 52,333,801 ballots printed in the duration of only 57 days.
Much like how people may think that smartphones are posing as a threat for Canon’s professional and entry-level cameras, they have actually helped photography grow in more ways than one.
People are now taking more photos because of their smartphones and as they develop their interest in photography they will eventually look for better, more professional cameras. And once they get better photos they will want to have it printed at the best possible quality that only Canon printers can provide.
