More than two months after its release, DigitalSpidey finally upgraded to WordPress 3.0!
According to WordPress, version 3.0 is the 13th major release of this popular blogging software and the latest one is the result of the 218 brains who contributed in the development. Included in the upgrade is the inclusion of the new default theme – Twenty Ten. Theme developers have new APIs that allow them to easily implement custom backgrounds, headers, shortlinks, menus, post types, and taxonomies. But we will not experience it here at DigitalSpidey because we have a third-party theme installed.
This upgrade is for the back-end so the viewers will not experience any change at all. You might ask why you don’t see any change in the blog. This is for the admin of the site, for Spidey 😀

I did the automatic way of upgrading it via my Dashboard instead of downloading it and uploading it through my CPanel which is intended for advance users. The upgrade just took about less than 2 minutes on a 102.1 Mbps connection.
While I was a little nervous during the upgrade because its my first time to do it, and ignored the “back up first” reminder and just proceeded; the upgrade was successful!
