LinkedIn and Vine are considered two of the giants in the social category in Google Play (besides Facebook and Twitter, of course). LinkedIn was founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003, and is currently the biggest social networking site for professionals. Vine, on the other hand, was released in 2012 and was bought by Twitter on the same year. That’s why Veems’s current ranking in Google Play is a huge accomplishment, because unlike LinkedIn and Vine, Veems is a new player in the social category. The Android version was only released in May 2014. Veems is an app that allows users to snap a photo and record a four-second voice or sound.
Veems is not only enjoying its growth in terms of Google Play ranking, but there is also a huge growth in terms of user engagement. Veems initially started as a public photo sharing app. However, in November, there is a 640% growth of private messages being sent as reported by Veems co-founder, Iddo Goren.
Veems is quickly gaining popularity among Filipino Android users. With the Philippines dubbed as the social media capital of the world, it’s no wonder that it has become a favorite among Filipinos. Rene Cruz. Jr., a standup comedian from the Philippines and a Veems user said, “Veems is the next step in social media. And, is an amazing opportunity to communicate creatively.”
