In China, Xiaomi officially introduces the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. Joining the trends of 18:9 screen, both are powering Snapdragon chipsets at a very affordable price tags.
The two shares the same physical aspect, offering Rose Gold, Gold, Blue and Black color options and runs in MIUI 9, based on Android 7.1.2 “Nougat”. The Redmi 5 comes with a 5.7-inch screen with HD+ display or 1440 x 720 resolution, a Snapdragon 450 chipset clocks at 1.8Ghz, Adreno 506 for graphics, 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 16GB or 32GB storage and 2GB or 3GB of RAM. A microSD card is supported up to 128GB thru a hybrid second-SIM slot. The fingerprint scanner is located at the back, while the battery packs a modest 3,300 mAh capacity with 2A charging.
Moving on, the Redmi 5 Plus carries a powerful Snapdragon 625 chipset with 32GB or 64GB storage and 3GB or 4GB of RAM. There’s a larger 4,000 mAh non-removable battery with 2A charging too. The front panel sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 2160 x 1080 resolution. Other specs including the camera are the same, packing 12-megapixel on back and 5-megapixel for selfies.
Both phones will be available on December 12 in the mainland China. No specific dates for the availability in other countries.
