Recall that Asus Zenfone Selfie was launched in the Philippines in August together with a few other Zenfones. The Selfie has a bigger body compared to the Zenfone 2, Zenfone 2 Laser and Zenfone de Luxe.
While it has the same screen size of 5.5-inch full HD IPS display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, the body of the Selfie becomes bigger to acommodate the 13-MP front camera with LED flash.
Asus Zenfone line up has the pricing that made a hit to the local market. They are surely affordable yet with a quality that is not compromised.
Asus Zenfone Selfie has a price tag of P11,995.
Build and quality
If you got a Zenfone previously, you also get the same build with the Zenfone Selfie. However, like I mentioned you will notice that the Selfie is a little bit bigger compared to the other Zenfones because of the 13MP camera in front.
The same feel, the same body, the same construction with the Zenfone 2 is what you get with Zenfone Selfie.
You will find the power button on top, on left side is the audio port and on the other end is the noise-cancelling mic.
At the bottom you have the micro-USB port and beside it is another noise-cancelling mic.
Display and UI
The Zenfone Selfie has a crisp and clear display. You will not have any viewing angle display problem. Screen is responsive and the signature of the Zenfone UI is on top of the Android 5.1 Lollipop makes the experience more stunning.
While I did not experience hiccups during my review, I always find guessing the proper button in the evening because the capacitive buttons does not illuminate in the dark.
What I like about the Zenfone UI is that you can arranged your apps into preset categories. You can view only the downloaded apps, you can customized it, or view only the frequent app that you use, or simply view everything.
Pulling the top screen reveals the quick settings menu. From there you can access frequently used services such as WiFi, Bluetooth, Calculator, Flashlight and many others. If you pull the bottom screen, it reveals another menu which allows you to customize the home screen.
(Asus Zenfone Selfie Review) Camera Test
In this Asus Zenfone Selfie Review, we will skip the benchmark and will focus instead on the camera. This is where the Asus Zenfone Selfie beat the competition.
Like what I wrote in the title — No Rivals.
If you are the kind of person who maximize all options in a smartphone, the camera app of Zenfone Selfie has lots of settings that can be explored.
You can create HDR photos, take advantage of the beautification mode, create a photo with super resolution, produce photo with bokeh, greate GIF and many other.
Here are the sample shots.
Where light is adequate, this Zenfone can give you this kind of images.
In low light conditions, some images might be compromised but if it is for social media consumption, it is good enough.
The real fun is when you switch the camera to the front and take real selfie shots. Here are rare images.
Like I said earlier, the Zenfone Selfie camera has slew of settings you play around. You can create a GIF image like this.
This one is a little bit blurred. Tweaked the beautification mode look how my cheek becomes thin!

Battery life and Performance
I say that the Zenfone Selfie is the best among the Zenfone models that I reviewed. No lags. Display is crisp and vibrant. No viewing angle issue.
Battery life is also one of the best. It can last you 12 hours on WiFi — even if you do social media posts, watch videos and more.
I only have one suggestion to Asus: kindly minimize the unwanted apps in the Zenfone ecosystem. 🙂
The price tag of Asus Zenfone Selfie, coupled with a great performance, topnotch camera, and a beautiful design, you can’t go wrong of owning this beautiful creation of Asus.
It is now available in stores nationwide.
