GCash, the leading financial app and the biggest cashless ecosystem in the Philippines, celebrates International Girls in ICT Day by introducing various initiatives that recognize women in the technology field. With a focus on leadership, GCash acknowledges the substantial impact women have in both the industry and the broader community.

“There can be no true financial inclusion without the contributions of women,” said GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon. “Over half of GCash users are female, and if we want to keep boosting the digital finance capabilities of the Philippines, we need more women in tech.”

On International Girls in ICT Day, GCash is taking steps to provide more opportunities for women in the tech industry. As a FinTech company led by women, GCash understands the importance of inclusion and empowerment. They offer accessible financial tools to sectors that were previously excluded, with a focus on supporting women. GCash collaborates with various communities to encourage more women to pursue careers in STEM fields. They have partnered with organizations like Connected Women to provide remote work opportunities and training for in-demand skills. Recently, GCash renewed its partnership with Connected Women to launch an online training program called Elevate GAIL (Generative Artificial Intelligence Learning).

To further support women in tech, GCash is extending its expertise through mentoring sessions with external partners. During an event organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), GCash’s Chief Data Officer Sara Venturina and Chief Risk Officer Ingrid Beroña will share their experiences and insights on Data and AI, as well as Cybersecurity, with students at the Far Eastern University.

GCash also hosts GTalks, a platform that engages stakeholders in important advocacy.

In May, their upcoming GTalks will focus on how women can thrive in the tech industry. Through their partnership with the University of the Philippines Diliman, GCash hopes to inspire more female students to pursue careers in STEM.

By actively promoting and supporting women in tech, GCash is leading the way in creating a more inclusive and diverse industry.
