GCash, the leading finance app and largest cashless ecosystem in the Philippines, was recently honored with the Company of the Year Award for the country’s Financial Technology Industry by Frost & Sullivan, a leading global analysis and growth strategy consulting firm.

The award recognizes GCash’s innovative use of digital solutions and financial services, as well as its overall achievements in the financial technology sector. It highlights the company’s implementation of best practices and strategic analytics throughout its value chain.

Frost & Sullivan specifically acknowledged GCash’s efforts to promote financial inclusion through a simplified banking application process. Unlike traditional banks that require extensive documentation, GCash only requires consumers to provide basic personal information such as their mobile number, address, and email address.

“The country’s fintech industry has seen tremendous growth in over a decade. Amid the uptake of digital payments, we have been cognizant of the reality that the underbanked population remains high,” said Martha Sazon, President and CEO of GCash. “This recognition, to us, is a validation of our work in continually identifying growth opportunities, innovating solutions, and meeting ever-evolving customer needs. It motivates us even more as we continue working towards our vision of Finance for All and our purpose of Making Filipinos’ Everyday Lives Better.”

The citation also commended GCash’s investment in next-generation technology to enhance customer service. The company’s electronic know-your-customer (eKYC) service utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning for face matching and fake identification detection. Additionally, GCash’s Credit service offers a streamlined application process with minimal requirements, allowing consumers to instantly access a credit line of up to P50,000 and make credit payments at numerous stores and billers.

With over 94 million Filipinos using GCash, the app has become a leader in the country’s fintech industry. Digital transactions now account for nearly half of total retail payments nationwide, a significant increase from just 1% a decade ago.

Frost & Sullivan evaluates candidates for the Company of the Year Award based on two main criteria: Visionary Innovation and Performance. This includes addressing unmet needs, envisioning scenarios through megatrends, demonstrating leadership focus, and implementing best practices.
