Accenture invites Female-only group to an online Hackathon

Accenture in the Philippines invites all female information technology (IT) students and professionals to participate in its first “All-Girls Online Hackathon” from March 25, 2016 to April 14, 2016. The company is challenging digital-savvy women to build a web page or a mobile application that can help improve their productivity in the workplace.

“The All Girls Online Hackathon is one of Accenture’s key programs to celebrate and support women in the country’s IT industry,” said Ambe Tierro, managing director and Accenture Technology lead in the Philippines. “This activity is also Accenture’s way of encouraging more women to further develop their skills in coding, innovate and become game-changers in creating a greater impact in our communities through the use of technology.”

The hackathon will have separate categories for IT students, 18 years old and above, and IT professionals outside of or are not employees of Accenture in the Philippines. Interested participants may join as individuals or as a team of up to three persons, and register at accenture.com/AllGirlsHackathon, beginning March 15, 2016. Registered participants have until April 14, 2016 to submit their entries online.

The Top 5 finalists per category will be invited to present and defend their entries before a distinguished panel of IT expert judges composed of: Accenture’s Ambe Tierro and Goyi Layug, Resources Europe, Africa, and Latin America (EALA) Delivery Lead in the Philippines Delivery Center; Elaine Uy, Digital Operations Head of ABS-CBN;Janette Toral, site owner of DigitalFilipino.com, among others.

The best web page or mobile application for both the student and professional categories will be announced by end-April.
Winners will receive a cash prize of Php 60,000.00 (per category).
