Unboxing
After reviewing a super huge ultra-wide curved monitor comes this sleek, small box LG gaming monitor which belongs to the UltaGear category.
The retail box can easily fit even in your compact car, or even a Lalamove rider can transport this without any problem.
This monitor weighs 4.96kgs only.
Inside the box are the included free HDMI cable, the power cable, the stand, and screws which you need to assemble the monitor.
Assembly
There’s no need to elaborate on this. Even 10th grader can get this working before you eve finish making your coffee. What I mean by this statement is that LG made it very easy for you to assemble this monitor.
You just need a handy screwdriver to fix a few screws to make stand stable, other than that, you can be up and running with your games in no time.
Upon successful assembly, you need to find where the magic starts. In that photo above, that joystick below the chin of the monitor is where to adjust all the settings you need.
Design
I have a few LG products at home — my smart TV has been around for about five years already, and just last in December 2019, I unboxed the biggest item on the Tech Patrol YouTube channel, a 2-door refrigerator.
The LG 24GL600F Full HD monitor bear the same high-end design, premium quality material evident on the matt finish which is in the long run, is easily maintained.
While it has a sturdy and eye-catching design, I’d like to focus on the additional features LG has included on this monitor.
There are two (2) HDMI inputs, which means you can connect two PCs / laptops or other devices at the same time. And should you want to ditch the monitor stand, there’s a VESA compatible mounts.
The monitor stand can only tilt. No height adjustment, and no swivel function. So there, a limited ergonomic feature for a gamer.
As for the bezel (as what we call it in the smartphones), the LG 24GL600F has a thick bezel making it look like a small monitor. Other reviewers say it is not suited for a multi-monitor setup.
Overall Performance
Ain’t a perfect one if you are meticulous with color science. No HDR support. And there are some viewing angle issues which you can’t notice if your eyes are untrained.
The lack of crisp and bright colors on this monitor is related to the TN panel. It is not as color-rich as the ones with IPS panels.
LG 24GL600F ReviewThe 1ms response time is the best selling point of this monitor, plus the 144Hz refresh rate coupled with AMD FreeSync provides a wonderful experience on fast-paced games like car racing.
However, there are no built-in speakers as well, so you make use of what you have on your laptop or on your PC.
Verdict
This monitor will meet the requirement of the casual players. The LG 24GL600F is recommended if your budget is sub-15k and you want a full HD monitor with dual HDMI input.
