This is a confession.
I am a Mac user, but an Android lover. I use my Macbook Pro Retina (Mac) to do my work as a blogger, but I use Android smartphone as a productivity partner to my Mac. And it does wonders for me. That has been the winning situation in the last three years.
As a prime technology blogger, I get to try, test and write an article about my opinion about the latest gadgets. Most of these gadgets are Android smartphones. From entry level to midrange, up to the flagship models, name it, we have it covered here.
Like Batman who has Robin, my Mac should have the best partner. It should Live with the King.
Enough for the long introduction. I am referring to Huawei Nexus 6P.
Huawei Nexus 6P is the most good-looking Android smartphone in its generation, ’nuff said.
But let me defend my declaration. Stay a little while and read my arguments and then decide if what I will tell you is true or not.
My top 5 favorite features of the Nexus 6P
1. Fast charging due to its USB Type C charging port
The type C USB port is admittedly my most favorite. I wish all smartphones can adopt the technology moving forward. It does not only deliver ease of use without having to worry if you inserted the cable the wrong way that may cause damage but I’m more glad that it charges the phone faster versus the regular USB ports.
2. The best of Google in the palm of your hand
We all hate bloatware, do we? With Nexus 6P stock Android OS version 6.0 (Marshmallow), I only enjoy apps that help me more productive. Name it from Search, Maps, Play, YouTube, GMail and Google Photos. All of these can seamlessly work at the same time without conflicts. Plus I hand hand-pick my third-party apps that are only essentials to my work.
3. Faster-than-ever performance
Under the hood are top notch specs — Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1, 2.0 GHz octa-core 64-bit, Adreno 430 GPU and 3 GB RAM. With these combinations of specs, all I have is smooth, hassle-free experience. Not to mention that Nexus 6P is 4G/LTE device makes mobile Internet experience so fast plus the huge 3,450mAh non-removable battery gave me more than 10 hours of usage.
4. Low-light loving, powerful camera
A friend of me was used to the stock camera apps the comes with the custom UI of smartphones. He was not impressed at first, but I told him Nexus 6Ps camera is one if not the best camera right now. I have high respects on the quality of photos that it produced and also the video recording is equally superb. I confess that I the latest episodes of the T4 Gadget Show were all recorded using the Nexus 6P. Need samples? Here’s a few:
5. Stunning screen clarity and ergonomic fingerprint ID
What can I ask for more if my smartphone has 2560 x 1440 screen resolution on an AMOLED display with 518 ppi? That means I only get super crisp and bright display, nothing more. Also, I need not worry for any accidental scratches as the screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. On the security side, the ergonomic and accurate fingerprint scanner helps me level up my security feature on my productivity device.
6. Bonus: Front-facing speakers = clear sounds
On idle times, I watch Youtube clips or play my favorite Spotify playlist before I sleep. The front-facing speakers are not just loud and clear, it provide me pleasing sound to my ears. On voice calls, the ringing notification of the Nexus 6P is not muffled even if you put it lying on your table because the speakers are not hidden or trapped at the back.
I’d say Huawei should make another Nexus. I loved Nexus 6P’s iconic hardware design, the low-light loving and powerful camera, the stunning screen clarity, its faster-than-ever performance, the reversible USB Type C, the ergonomic fingerprint ID and finally the stock Android OS and the native apps.
