After the Kadayawan 2013 festival “speedtest” of Smart LTE-A, where they got 210Mbps speed, the MVP-led telco went to Boracay to test it.

“Just as we did with LTE, Smart is paving the way with LTE-Advanced for Philippine mobile users to get only the best and the fastest mobile Internet experience that could only come from the true leader in broadband,” Vea said. “We are excited to power a multitude of new applications through the blistering speeds brought by LTE-Advanced.”
As we mentioned, the Davao test got them 210 Mbps, in Boracay, they hit 202Mbps.

At this speed, a 10MB file will take less than a second to download, YouTube videos will no longer have to buffer before being viewed completely, and Skype video calls will experience almost no lags using an LTE-Advanced network.
The network trial was observed by Smart Founder and Chief Wireless Advisor Orland B. Vea, Geeks on a Beach organizer Tina Amper, and DOST-Information and Communications Technology Office Deputy Executive Director Monchito Ibrahim.
No exact date as to when is the LTE-A will be commercially available, but Smart LTE has been live and being enjoyed by the public now.
Smart’s LTE network, on the other hand, has the widest coverage across the country, with more than 1,000 sites and covering 180 cities and municipalities in the North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao areas, including all the cities located in Metro Manila.
