Strengthening Philippine Digital Economy Through Public-Private Collaboration

AlphaBeta, an economic consulting firm based in Singapore, released a study in 2022 that said the Philippines would create PHP 5 trillion worth of economic value by 2030. In 2021, the Philippines had the fastest-growing digital economy among the major ASEAN countries. The Alliance of Tech Innovators for the Nation (ATIN) wants to unite government, businesses, and communities to make the digital economy a good place for innovation. This is so that the projected economic growth can happen. ATIN’s ultimate goal is to launch the organization on April 12th with a Media Launch that tech industry and government representatives will attend.
ATIN is a loose group of people who work in and support the tech industry in the Philippines. They want to use the power of tech to help everyone grow and improve. ATIN has come up with three ways to improve the lives of Filipinos in the digital economy: improve training and education for digital skills, speed up digital adoption and innovation, and boost digital trade opportunities.
“Digitalization will foster inclusive growth where financial services become more accessible to the majority. A collaborative effort between the Public Sector, Business Stakeholders, and MSMEs will help to create a digital ecosystem that drives development, long-term employment, and inclusive growth in the country”, said Monchito Ibrahim, Lead Convenor of ATIN and former Undersecretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The ATIN Launch at the Diamond Hotel in Manila is the first step the coalition is taking to raise awareness about the state of the country’s digital economy and how critical multi-stakeholder initiatives are to its growth. ATIN wants to help the public and private sectors work together to get more Filipinos involved in the digital economy and to create a policy and regulatory environment that makes this possible. The coalition is also planning to host the ATIN Digital Economy Summit. This will help keep discussions going and bring new issues, policies, and initiatives for the Philippine digital economy to the forefront of public meetings by bringing together thought leaders in tech and policy and decision-makers in government.
