On beta test: Smart Evolution, SmartLTE

Few were chosen. And we were one of the 150 beta testers of the Smart’s LTE or the Long Term Evolution, the newest technology that will be offered by Smart Communications to the public by next year.

It promises up to 42Mpbs download speed. Yes, a 42Mbps! That is just a few minutes of downloading a full non-HD movie!

Anyway, I took a picture of the LTE dongle that was provided for the beta test. The dongle is a bigger than the usual Smartbro Plugit. The device is Huwaei E392.

I did an initial speed test today. My location is in Pasong Tamo, close to Don Bosco and Makati Cinema Square. I did not get the LTE signal and this is my initial test results.

The signal is unstable, it would hit up high and go down to zero. Most of the time I get a HSPA signal, but in this screen capture I only got WCMDA. I am still hoping that I can get that LTE signal and experience that lightning-speed internet experience.

First speed test got me 1Mbps. I will conduct series of tests and will take it just slow since our beta testing will take about two months.
