PLDT Enterprise entered into a strategic alliance with AF Payments, Inc. (AFPI) in order to allow a modernized fare and tracking system for the transport sector.
AFPI will bundle its Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) with the Vectras-powered Smart Tracker solution from PLDT Enterprise to provide public transport operators with full fleet management and fare collection solution. Without the need to contract with several vendors, public transport operators will now have the option of acquiring AFPI fleet management and fare collection features.
The purpose of the strategic alliance is to make it easier for public transport operators to satisfy the demand for efficient fleet management and modern tariff collection requirements. The driving public would benefit from more efficient fare payment choices, improved vehicle scheduling and passenger information systems as it becomes simpler for public transit operators to incorporate fleet management and fare collection systems.

AF Payments, Inc. (AFPI) has partnered with train, jeepney and bus fleet public transport operators, including Manila’s three light rail networks and EDSA bus consortiums, with the guidance of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), to help make public transport more convenient by incorporating modern fare collection based on contactless cards and QR codes.
