Bigger phones have always an advantage versus the small ones. You’ll enjoy more consuming content on a bigger screen as against the ones with a smaller display. Stay for a while as we share our Samsung C9 Pro Review (Philippines)
Table of contents:
Design & Build
Take a look at the white/gold C9 Pro sent to us by Samsung Philippines.
The C9 Pro has the original DNA of the Samsung device. It has the signature physical home button at the bottom of the display and it is flanked by the backlighted capacitive buttons.
It is made up of a one-piece solid metal body with the six (6) string ultra fine antenna lines (similar to the OPPO F3 Plus) .
There is a curved design towards the edged resulting to a slimmer feel.
There is the USB Type-C equipped with fast-charging support, the 3.5mm audio jack and the speaker grill at the bottom. Up top is the noise-cancelling mic alone, leaving the top side clean and neat.
Also, there are individual slots for the microSD support and the dual nano SIM. This is an advantage over the other that implement hybrid SIM tray only. With this setup, you can maximize the dual-SIM with external storage thru the microSD.
Samsung C9 Pro Hands-on
Software and UI
You’ll feel at home with the UI of C9 Pro. You still get the app drawer right at the home screen.
Plus, you can forgive Samsung if they pre-installed some apps which, sometimes, you don’t like them in there.
Pre-installed apps like Microsoft plus other marketing-related Samsung apps are there.
But like I said, you can forgive Samsung for it because there is a 64G internal storage which is huge enough.
With 6-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 367ppi, you can consume a lot of content from the C9 Pro.
Binge watching with iFlix, Netflix, and Youtube videos are very pleasant. You just need a good smartphone stand to hold the C9 Pro.
There are no viewing angle issues also.
The “traditional” camera setup is still carried by Samsung C9 Pro. There are two shooters — 16MP PDAF rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and dual-tone LED flash and 16MP front camera with f/1.9 aperture.
Here are the sample shots for your appreciation.
When light is substantial, it will deliver crisp, sharp and clear images. On low-light scenarios, especially in evening shots, you can’t expect usable photos.
Here’s a lone sample of the front camera. It has features like “Smooth”, Color, and Large Eyes.
Video capture of both cameras is Full HD with 30fps only. The focus-hunting issue was observed during our test.
There is a super huge battery on the C9 Pro. It has a 4,000mAH battery that features fast charging as well.
Just use the owner-supplied charger or any fast charger and you can fill up the entire tank within 2 hours.
The 4,000mAH battery stayed with us for more than 2 days of usage.
The C9 Pro is powered by .95GHz Snapdragon 653 octa-core CPU with Adreno 510 GPU. There is also a nice combination of 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage.
If you need a huge display and long-lasting battery life, you can put Samsung C9 Pro into your list of smartphones to buy this year.
It won’t disappoint you in many aspects.
Should I recommend it? Probably not, until Samsung reduces its SRP. The current price of the S9 Pro is P27,990.
I’d like to point out too that without any protective casing, the C9 Pro is quite slippery. It will slip off your hands easily.
Also, the fingerprint scanner did not give us 100% accuracy. I had to try at least 3x before I gain access to the device.
