Sony starts to roll-out Android v7.1.1 “Nougat” on Xperia Z3+, Z4+ and Z5 family
Good news Sony users! The Japanese smartphone maker releases Android v7.1.1 “Nougat” update on Sony Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium.
It includes the new security patch for the month of June and a build number to version 32.4.A.0.160 from version 32.3.A.2.33.
According to users, here are some significant changes:
- Bluetooth and Storage icon in the Settings
- New “Assist” in Settings (Shortcuts to Xperia tips:, Introduction to Xperia & Stamina Mode)
- Updated Fingerprint UI
- Fast image preview after capturing an image
- Secondary theme color on the top bar
- Six tiles in the quick shortcut toggles
- New emojies
- Package installer support themes
- Enable shortcuts on the launcher
- Activate more cores when running heavier apps
The company is known for updating some of their older phones, like the Xperia Z3+ which was announced way back May 2015 or two years ago, and the Xperia Z4+ that was released on June 2015. In a sad part, however, it looks like these two phones will stay forever on this version and no hope for major upgrading in the next Android version.
On the other side, we’ll just wait for the announcement of Sony regarding the Android “O” software update for the entire Xperia Z5 series.
