8 Things You Should Know about Xiaomi Redmi 6, 6A & Mi 8 in the Philippines

1. Fairly Priced Mi 8 Flagship Device

Imagine having to pay just half the price of the current flagship devices of the famous brands? This is how Xiaomi positions their flagship device in the Philippines.

You can own their flagship device Mi 8 for as low as P25,990 for the 6GB + 64GB variant. Just add P2,00 more and you’ll get the 6GB + 128GB version which retails for P27,990. Compared to the Mi 8 Price in India (Rs. 28,600), Mi 8 Price in the Philippines is quite reasonable.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is arriving in Lazada and authorized Mi Stores in the Philippines on July 30, 2018.

Unfortunately, John Chen, the Regional Director of Xiaomi told us during the press conference that the Mi8 Explorer Edition might not be available in the Philippines.

2. Mi 8: Performance Powerhouse

Here’s what you’ll get out of your hard-earned money. Inside that Mi8 is a Snapdragon 845 and Adreno 630 GPU. There’s a 6GB RAM plus, either a 64GB or 128GB of storage to choose from. There’s a dual 12MP AI cameras (with 105 photo score from DxOMark), 20MP selfie camera, which combines 4 pixels to form 1 large 1.8µm pixel for clearer low light selfies. And finally a 6.21-inch FHD+ Samsung AMOLED full-screen display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio.

In case you are curious, the Mi 8 scored more than 30,000 in AnTuTu.

The 3,400mAH battery is also equipped with Quick Charge 4+, of which you enjoy 50 percent charge in only 15 minutes time.

This is how a budget smartphone should be priced. The new entry-level kings, as Xiaomi wants to call it has price starting at only P5,290. But wait, on Shopee’s Flash Sale happening on July 23, you can score the Redmi 6A for only P4,990!

5. Redmi 6/6A: Balanced Performance

The Redmi 6 has a 5.45-inch 18:9 display with a screen-to-body ratio of 80.5%. It is powered by the
latest MediaTek Helio P22 SoC. Its octa-core CPU is built on the 12nm process and consumes
about 48% less power than comparable 28nm chipsets.

Its 3,000 mAh high capacity battery that allows the phone to stay in standby mode for up to 19 days.

The shooters include a 12MP+5MP dual camera set up with the main sensor having a 1.25μm large pixels. This is the largest among popular smartphones in this price range. The 5MP front camera of Redmi 6 is supported by Xiaomi’s AI Portrait mode, which renders a realistic bokeh effect with a single lens.

Meanwhile, the Redmi 6A offers great value as it adopts the same body and screen as Redmi 6
and sports the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC that is also built on the 12nm process.

8. Availability & Pricing

To reiterate, the Redmi 6 comes in two versions — 3GB + 32GB for P7,490 and 4GB + 64GB for P8,990.

For the Mi fans out there, Lazada will offer them for only P6,990 and P8,490 respectively on its flash sale on July 23.

Meanwhile, the Redmi 6A 2GB + 16GB is priced at P5,290.  It will be offered for P4,990 on
Shopee’s flash sale on July 23.  A Redmi 6A 2GB + 32GB version will also be available soon for
P5,990.

Both the Redmi 6 and 6A will also be available at Authorized Mi Stores in August.

Mi 8 will be available on August 3. The 6GB + 64GB version of Mi 8 comes with a price tag of P25,990, making it the most pocket-friendly smartphone driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The 6GB+128GB version of Mi 8 will be available at P27,990.

Don’t forget that the Redmi 5A was priced at only P4,390, when it was introduced early this year.

  1. Xiaomi is one of the most top brand smartphone maker the price is good for the midrange Xiaomi unit and also to there flagship phone Mi8 kumbaga po sakto lang.

  2. Very reasonable prices for Xiaomi phones considering the specs compared with famous brands. Xiaomi is playing wise with this pricing strategy in my opinion.

  3. For the Xiaomi Mi 8 very competitive ng price nya, kahit One plus 6 and Asus Zenfone 5Z no match sa price ng Mi 8 🙂 at the higher specs ng Mi 8 sulit yan and maganda i-recommend.

    and for the Redmi 6 and 6A verry affordable to sa mga tight ang budget, actually yan ang gusto ko i-recommend sa kapatid ko ang ganda ng specs especially the 4GB RAM worth it na sya almost P9k ^_^
