ZTE Blade A711 Quick Review

Introduction

ZTE isn’t as active as the other Chinese brands in the market today. But Lazada was kind enough to lend us the latest device from ZTE, the ZTE Blade A711. What we got is the 16G Silver model.

The ZTE Blade A711 is a Lazada-exclusive offering and is available for P7,590.

Build and design

The ZTE Blade A711 is a head-turner. At the SRP we provided above, you will not believe that it has a very decent specs not to mention the premium-looking metal unibody design.

All buttons are located on the right side. The power button is below the volume rocker. On the left side is the SIM-tray for dual nano SIM cards only. At the bottom is the micro-USB port. On top is the 3.5-mm audio port. The dual-SIM tray doubles as micro-SD slot too.

ZTE A711 Front

The display has 5.5 IPS Full HD display and on the front, you will see an illuminating home button with blue LED, the back and menu buttons are represented by a dot with the absence of the backlight.

On top is the 5MP camera and the ambient sensor.

At the back is the 13MP with Autofocus and LED flash. Right below the camera is the fingerprint sensor. At the bottom is the very tiny speaker grill.

Display and UI

You will get a neat-looking UI with the Nubia 3 version that runs on top of the Android 5.1 Lollipop. When brightness is put to the lowest setting it is impossible to view it during daylight. The display is crisp and apps icons are almost stock. It is good to report that it has very limited unwanted apps pre-installed giving you freedom to install your favorite apps only.

Also, the Nubia UI eliminates the app drawer, so you have the full control in categorizing the apps in every folder.

ZTE A711 UI

The ZTE A711 has USB OTG enabled so you can access external files such as photos and videos from an external drive.

The fingerprint sensor worked well too. You can store up five profiles so that if one finger can’t be recognized, you still have four more on the reserve.

Camera UI and sample shots

The ZTE A711 has a beautiful rear camera. There is a tendency for some photos to come out pale, but with patience in re-focusing and adjusting some settings, you can create amazing photos.

The camera UI has plenty of settings to play around.

Here are few sample photos we took using the ZTE Blade A711. These photos are not edited.

Battery life

A commendable battery life of more than eight (8) hours of usage on home WiFi, accessing e-mail, social media snacks and few snaps of the camera.

Conclusion

The ZTE A711 is a well-priced smartphone. Having decent specs and features like fingerprint scanner, a camera that takes beautiful photos, and long-lasting battery, I’d buy one for myself.
