Before we had a long break in December 2013, Canon PH sent over a black Canon Pixma four-in-one printer for review. Since, we went on our regular Holiday break from December 20 until January 3, it is only now that we are publishing our review.
Canon Pixma MX527 is a wireless printer which makes it awesome!
Like I always say, I am an advocate of all wireless devices. I guess you will agree that life is easier when there are no wires that need to be configured in your offices. Just plug in the device, in this case the MX527, connect it to your wireless router and you are good to go!
The printer has small LCD which displays the menu where you configure the printer first before you finally put it to work.

And, if you are the type of person who still likes to connect your devices the classic way, the wired connection and all, at the back of the printer, you will find the old-school connectivity ports. 😉
Since, the Pixma MX527 is a four-in-one printer, you can connect your analog telephone line to it and make it as your fax machine. Although I think this feature is now obsolete, or nearly outdated, for some offices this will still work.
The printer uses two types of printer ink – Pixma PG 740 Black, and Pixma CL741 Color. The printer that was sent to us came with two new set of inks, so we were able to do several test prints and most of them are photos.
And since, I left my corporate job last year, I had not been printing documents because most of my job does not require me to print. We had to test photo printing though on set of photo paper provided.
I guess we printed more or less 20 pieces of 4R size photos, and about 10 8Rs in all full color until the printer gave us warning that the ink is already giving up. 🙂
The color quality when printed on photo paper is nearly perfect. If you are printing or “developing” your photos in photo stores, you will get the same quality.
Overall, the printer is functional and we really like the wireless technology that comes with it. Setting up is easy, and the other functions like copy and scan are much appreciated specially on an office setting. It prints a 4R photo in less than a minute. It prints A4, Standard and Legal size papers. And since it has wireless connectivity, it works in any platform. We used our Macbook air to print our photos in this review.
What we like:
