The Essential PH-1 smartphone is literally one of the best smartphones in town today. It was developed by Android co-founder Andy Rubin and manufactured, developed and marketed by Essential Products in the United States.
The pre-order saga seems to end as of this moment, as the device has finally started shipping. For those who bought the phone, you’ll have to wait until August 31, 2017 (U.S. time) [September 1, 2017 – Manila time]. It will be delivered by FedEx, an American international courier delivery service, and is expected to be delivered by Friday. The warehouse is located in Shenzhen, China and there’s a cutoff for dispatching an item.
At first, the courier sent an information to the customers, who are already mad and frustrated as the company has been broken its promises for the pre-order units, that the phone could get delivered on August 30. On a merely disappointing situation, Hurricane Harvey is still affecting the central southeastern part of the U.S., most especially in Texas, as catastrophic inland flooding is ongoing, particularly in Greater Houston area, the second largest metropolitan area where Houston, the most populous city in the state, is located. Further, other U.S. states have been affected by the storm, including Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, so expect a delay in the shipment.
As we backtrack the pre-order schedule by Essential, they started to accept reservations after it unveils the phone. Also, they stated that after 30 days, shipping will start. However, it never happened and many customers are starting to complain about the original schedule. On July 21, Essential sent e-mails to those who pre-order the phone, that the Essential handset is set to arrive a few weeks and is expected by many customers to arrive by mid-August. Obviously, it didn’t happen again.
Hopefully, Essential will manage to learn for their broken promises as it might affect the credibility of the company, including its sales.
