HONOR has officially unveiled its newest flagship foldable – the Magic V5 – which now claims the title of the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone, overtaking the OPPO Find N5.
Slim and Stylish Design
The HONOR Magic V5 features an ultra-slim design, measuring only 8.8mm when folded and a stunning 4.1mm when unfolded (for its Ivory White variant). Other colorways measure slightly thicker at 9.0mm folded and 4.2mm unfolded. Its weight ranges from 217g to 220g, depending on the variant.
The design features an eight-curve frame with a 3D diamond-cut finish, inspired by both Eastern and Western architecture. It will be available in Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown.
Durable Hinge and Build
The Magic V5 is built with HONOR’s Luban Suspension Hinge, crafted from durable steel and tested to withstand 500,000 folds. Reinforced with a carbon fiber back plate and dual aerospace-grade fiber layers, HONOR claims it is 40 times more impact resistant than typical foldables.
Impressive Dual Displays
The foldable features a 7.95-inch OLED inner display with a resolution of 2,352 x 2,176, and a 6.43-inch outer OLED screen with a resolution of 2,376 x 1,060. Both screens support:
- Adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate
- Up to 5,000 nits peak brightness
- HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision certification
Protection is top-notch as well, with Glory King Kong Flexible Armor on the inner display and Giant Rhino Glass on the outer screen.
Flagship Performance and Large Battery
Under the hood is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with an Adreno GPU, offering variants of 12GB or 16GB RAM, and storage options up to 1TB. The standard battery is 5,820mAh, while the 1TB variant gets a larger 6,100mAh battery. Charging is handled by:
- 66W wired fast charging
- 50W wireless charging
- Reverse wireless charging
Versatile Camera Setup
At the back, the HONOR Magic V5 features:
- 50MP f/1.6 main camera
- 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera
- 64MP f/2.5 periscope telephoto with laser focus and rear color temperature sensor
Selfie duties are handled by 20MP front cameras on both the outer and inner displays. HONOR has not yet detailed which modules include EIS or OIS.
Feature-Packed with AI
Running Android 15-based MagicOS 9.0.1, it integrates HONOR’s YOYO AI suite, which includes features like AI taxi booking, PPT assistance, programming support, AI retouching, call assistant, and much more.

Tech Patrol Insights
HONOR is targeting the premium foldable segment, offering a thin and durable build that doesn’t compromise on battery size or camera versatility.
With Samsung and OPPO’s upcoming foldables also in the pipeline, it will be interesting to see if HONOR’s slim profile and robust features can lure buyers away from established foldable champions.
Stay tuned for the local updates, release dates and promotions.
