Realme X: A new premium mid-range bet on periscope camera and Snapdragon 710 SoC

The online brand of OPPO, Realme, had long been dropping clues about a future high-end phone that, after its unveiling, has been a small step behind. The Realme X is now a reality, although its specifications place it in the premium mid-range, despite the fact that it has very attractive features and worthy of mobiles superior to it.

Realme had been showing for some time that this future phone, now the Realme X, would have a periscope front camera. A system that we have seen all this 2019 and that allows to hide the camera in the frame, like the Vivo NEX that premiered it a few months ago. Here, we have 16-megapixel, with a f/2.0 aperture lens and integrated HDR, in addition to the classic beauty modes associated with many Chinese-branded phones.

In the back camera, we came across a 48-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.8 lens and another 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 lens. It is logical to deduce the function of the second chamber: the depth readings. So for practical purposes, we have a single camera although with selective blur or bokeh, operated by hardware and supported by the phone’s AI. The rear camera records 4K video at 30 fps, although it can reach 120 fps if we reduce the quality to Full HD.

The Realme X obviously has very small bezels thanks to the fact that it hides the front camera, and thus offers us an AMOLED panel of 6.5 inches with a ratio of 19.5:9 and Full HD+ resolution. This is 2340 x 1080 pixels, a density of 394 pixels per inch and Gorilla Glass 5 panel. A large screen, with integrated fingerprint reader, for a phone that does not weigh as much as it might seem, as we talk about measures 161.3 x 76.1 x 8.55 millimeters and a weight of 191 grams.

We can go closing talking about the Realme X comes with an internal battery of 3,765 mAh, a decent figure that is accompanied by rapid charging of 20W, which must charge 55% of the battery in only 30 minutes. The phone comes with Android 9.0 Pie under ColorOS 6.0 and Hyperboost 2.0 mode for gaming. We also have dual SIM with 4G, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB port type C, but nothing of NFC or headphone jack.

As we have seen in the specifications, the phone has landed with only two versions of RAM and internal storage, which could produce multiple combinations and which are specified in four versions, with the following prices:

Realme X 4/64 GB: CNY 1499 or ~P11,435
Realme X 6/64 GB: CNY 1599 or ~P12,200
