Samsung Philippines launched its Series 5 Laptop tonight, dubbed as Series 5 Ultra, Samsung came up with two flavors only the 13″ and 14″ Ultrabooks.

So what’s new with the new kid in town? Ultrabooks are lighter – check, Ultrabooks are faster – check, Ultrabooks are thin – check. Ultrabooks has optical drive – hmmm, not all but Samsung has – check!

So alright, lets talk about what’s inside this latest ultrabook contender. First thing first – Samsung Series 5 Ultra will have 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB 2.0, HDMI port, VGA and a giga ethernet port are some of the standard specs you will see. Oh, they did not forget the multi-card slot, a 4-in-1 slot which can use SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC card.

Plus the Samsung Series 5 Ultra has ODD. What? Ultrabook with DVD writer? Yes, it is the only ultrabook now with a DVD writer.

Packed with a 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth v3.0 High Speed, 2 x 3W stereo speakers, and will be shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).

The 14″ Serier 5 Ultra is the model which has DVD writer and 1TB storage. The 13″ will be shipped with 500G and has no DVD writer.

Samsung Ultrabook also will have the brightest display with 300nit which will make you work comfortable in any lighting condition. But wait, there’s more – a 20 seconds boot up time is something that is really impressive!

And how about the pricing? It is expensive? The 14″ Series 5 Ultra will be available with an SRP of PHP 59,900.00 and the 13″ Series 5 Ultra will be at PHP 44, 900.00. At this price, Samsung is even giving it away for zero percent on credit card purchase.
