WorldRemit and BDO Remit create even more ways for Filipinos to receive money with USD payouts

WorldRemit, a major international cross-border payments firm, has extended its long-standing relationship with BDO Remit, BDO Unibank’s remittance service brand with the Philippines’ largest branch network.

Money transfer receivers in the Philippines will now collect payment directly through their BDO Unibank USD account or pick up USD cash at BDO Unibank branches; BDO Remit counters within The SM Store & SM Business Services branches; and Villarica Pawnshops.

Ensuring our customers are able to transfer money to family and friends back home conveniently, safely and as quickly as possible is why we exist. We’re confident that making it possible to send money to USD bank accounts in the Philippines & BDO Remit cash pick-up locations will give our customers more flexibility and options to receive support from their loved ones abroad”, said Earl Melivo, Country Director for the Philippines at WorldRemit.


Users of WorldRemit can send money to more than 150 destinations from more than 50 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Customers can select from a variety of payout options, including bank deposits, mobile wallets, cash pick-up, and mobile airtime top-up, depending on their receiver’s place.

BDO Unibank is part of the SM Group, which operates the country’s largest mall supermarket/grocery chain, and has the country’s largest branch and ATM network. BDO Unibank has over 1,400 branches and 4,400 ATMs around the country (including BDO Network Bank, the rural bank subsidiary of BDO Unibank).

Customers can make payments to any PHP Unibank account or collect PHP cash at any BDO Unibank and BDO Network Bank branches, BDO Remit counters within The SM Store & SM Business Services branches, Villarica and RD Pawnshops in the Philippines, in addition to collecting money through USD account and cash pick-up.

According to the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP), Filipinos overseas sent over $33 billion back home in 2020 (almost the same level as 2019).
