What’s in the box?

Here’s what you’d expect when you unbox the HONOR Pad X8a — the tablet, the usual accessories in white color.

The tablet has a SIM tray, in case you would want to install a SIM card. But in our case we just use this over our home wifi network.

HONOR has included a premium flip cover in the review unit that we have. We are not sure if you’ll get the same freebie when you finally purchase one from Shopee.

First impressions

The Honor Pad X8a, a budget-friendly tablet from Honor. Here are some key details about it:

Key Features:

  • Display: 10.1-inch Full HD IPS display, offering good clarity for media consumption and productivity.
  • Processor: Powered by Snapdragon 680, providing decent performance for basic tasks like browsing, media playback, and light gaming.
  • RAM and Storage: Typically comes with configurations such as 4GB RAM, with internal storage of 128GB. It also support expandable storage via microSD.
  • Operating System: Runs on MagicOS 8.0, which is based on Android 14
  • Battery: Equipped with a large battery, typically around 8300mAh, ensuring long usage times.
  • Build: Slim and lightweight design, making it portable and easy to hold for extended periods.
  • Cameras: Basic camera setup, usually around 5MP for the rear and 2MP for the front, sufficient for video calls and basic photography.

My first impressions is mostly based on the SRP of the tablet. The HONOR Tab 8Xa is only priced P7,999, but if you get it from October 2 to 9, you can get a P1k discount. This deal is only available on Shopee.

I was surprised how premium the tablet is. It is made up of high-end material and the finish is just like the mid-range device Honor has been putting in the market — all premium.

The display is also crisp and bright. I am a forex and crypto trader, and the apps that I would immediately install are the likes of TradingView, Discord and some trading apps like Exness or XM. All these were handled very well by the tablet. It did not feel like it is just a sub-7k tablet at all.

It is also lightweight. Unlike the other tablets in the market, the HONOR Pad X8a feels light. You will not feel its weight even if you carry it for a prolonged period.

Final thoughts

The Honour Pad X8a is designed for consumers who are searching for a low-cost tablet that can be used for reading, using multimedia applications, and performing light productivity tasks. With a price point that is so much affordable, it is aimed to compete with other tablets in the market for low-cost tablets while also providing satisfactory performance.
